Have you ever felt paralyzed with fear?
Usually when we have experienced trauma, such as sexual trauma, it induces high physiological arousal but without the option or freedom to fight or run, so we freeze. In the animal kingdom there is a natural ability to just shake it off and move on with life. Unfortunately, we humans have not had that adaptability to life and what was meant to be a temporary freeze response becomes long-term within our nervous system, paralysing us with shame and anger.
Many of us cannot articulate shame as shame because of the helplessness that takes over. Shame results from us playing this constant tape in our heads of, “why did I not fight”, “why did I go back?” We judged ourselves even though fighting was not an option… This session will focus on unfreezing.
During your time with us, you will experience somatic movement to prepare your body for guided healing. In this workshop our practitioners will take you through a Qi Kong session. For this you will need a mat if you have one and a space to do the movements. Q&A will be at the end of the session.
Are you ready to shift the self-blame?
